Electronic music production has developed rapidly in recent decades. From analog synthesizers to digital audio workstations and cloud-based production environments, technological innovations have always shaped the scene. However, one of the biggest changes in recent years has been the use of artificial intelligence (AI). Especially in a creative city like Munich, where... Read more

The 7 biggest myths about streaming royalties

by
Streaming has revolutionized the music industry. Billions of plays are registered daily on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube. At the same time, many artists believe that the payment system behind these streams is simple and transparent. But the reality is far more complex. Numerous misconceptions exist surrounding streaming royalties – both among newcomers and established musicians. ... Read more

Royalties in 2026

by
Digitalization has revolutionized the music industry. Streaming platforms now provide detailed data on every single use of a song: when it was played, in which country, on which platform, and how often. At the same time, we live in the age of big data, automated rights management, and artificial intelligence. Despite these technological possibilities, the practices of collecting societies show that... Read more

Apple Spatial Audio

by
The music industry is currently undergoing a technological shift that may be as significant as the transition from mono to stereo in the 1960s. With Apple Spatial Audio, Apple is introducing a new generation of music listening: spatial sound that places the listener right in the middle of the music. For music producers, this opens up entirely new creative possibilities – but also brings... Read more

So that those colleagues who are always too loud or think musical quality comes from volume... Read more

Open Format DJs

by
Open Format DJ – for some it's the absolute pinnacle of DJing, for others nothing more than pressing "play" on a cue. Hardly any term divides the scene as much as this one. And hardly any other type of DJ is simultaneously so caught between praise and disparagement. Especially if you're not just a DJ... Read more

Native Instruments is insolvent.

by
The insolvency of Native Instruments feels like a shock to many of us – and at the same time like something we've seen coming for years. Anyone who has DJ'd with Traktor, produced with Komplete, or created beats with Maschine associates NI not just with software, but with a piece of music history. All the more bitter, then, is the current... Read more

Carnival in Venice in Munich

by
The Carnival of Venice is more than just a historical festival. For centuries, it has stood for transformation, for playing with identity, and for a special freedom possible only under the protection of a mask. It's not about volume or spectacle, but about atmosphere, suggestion, and elegance. This is precisely the spirit that the event "Carnival in Venice" captures... Read more

Spatial Audio 3D

by
Spatial audio – often also called "3D audio" or "immersive audio" – is far more than just a technological trend. It describes a sound format that no longer presents sound solely in left/right (stereo), but as a three-dimensional experience in space. Instead of two or four speakers, spatial audio uses a system of many precisely distributed speakers that... Read more
