The wedding industry is constantly evolving, and 2024 is no exception. While the pandemic has given us new perspectives on celebrations and gatherings, tradition, individuality, and sustainability continue to shape wedding trends in Germany. From romantic details to eco-conscious choices, here are the top wedding trends that will capture the hearts of couples in Germany in 2024.
The WEDDING STUDY by eventbooking24.com was also published again, highlighting the top wedding trends for 2024 in Germany.

1. Romantic intimacy:
In a time marked by uncertainty and change, many couples yearn for more intimate and personal wedding celebrations. Small wedding parties are gaining popularity as couples make more conscious choices to spend time with their closest friends and family. These intimate celebrations allow couples to forge a deeper connection and fully savor the moment.
According to a study, the best wedding size is around 79 guests. (Whether that still counts as intimate is a matter of personal opinion.) This aligns with my observations, as before the pandemic, most of my weddings had 80-120 guests, and since 2020, the trend has been towards a maximum of 80 people. Currently, most weddings have between 50 and 80 guests.
2. Individual details:
Personalization remains central to wedding planning. Couples strive to reflect their love and personality in every detail of their celebration. From handwritten vows to custom-designed decorations, 2024 is all about making each wedding unique and distinctive. And significant financial resources are still being invested in this uniqueness in 2024.
3. Sustainable decisions:
The importance of sustainability is also making its way into the world of weddings. More and more couples are opting for eco-friendly options, whether it's choosing the venue, decorations, or catering. Reducing plastic packaging, using local products, and donating surplus food are becoming key elements for couples who want to enjoy their celebration with a clear conscience.
4. Virtual elements:
Digitalization has also made its mark on weddings. Virtual elements such as live streams for guests who cannot attend in person, interactive online invitations, and wedding websites containing all the important information are increasingly in demand. These technologies allow couples to share their love across borders and celebrate their special day with a global audience.
5. Entertainment:
I found the section on entertainment in the study particularly interesting. For 73.56% of couples, a DJ was the top choice, followed by the good old live band at 23.46%. This is probably because the generation now saying "I do" grew up with discos and clubs. The distribution of music genres was also fascinating. I often officiate themed weddings, meaning one music genre is dominant. For me personally, rock and electronic music are my top choices, which might be because I have a deep understanding of these two genres. But generally, couples want a diverse, open-format music selection at their wedding. The 80s, 90s, 2000s, and current chart hits are dominant. The 70s apparently aren't as popular anymore.
Conclusion:
Wedding trends for 2024 in Germany paint a picture of romantic intimacy, individual details, sustainability, and digital connectivity. As the world evolves, love and commitment remain the driving forces behind every wedding celebration. Regardless of which trends couples choose, the most important thing is that their wedding tells their unique story and their love shines through in every moment.
