FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions, or FAQs for short , are questions that come up again and again, and which I can answer here...

What is the procedure when someone requests a DJ booking with you?
  • We will contact you within 24 hours of your request. We are always punctual and have consistently adhered to our agreed-upon music start time. If guests are late, it is beyond our control.
  • From the initial inquiry and quote to the party itself, we provide professional DJ services. We don't share your contact information with random Facebook "DJ groups" or unknown "maybe" or "hobby" DJs.
  • With us, there are no hidden costs, whether it's a complete package or a time-based rate. We design our offers transparently and fairly based on the requirements of your event and only provide you with the technology you actually need.
  • All DJs, including DJ Robert James Perkins, recommended through 089DJ Booking Munich, are full-time professional DJs and have been for years…
  • We're not just amateur DJs collecting MP3s. We know the music we have with us and the music we play…
  • Always a smile on our faces and up for almost anything. That's just how we are...
Do you only DJ in Munich or do you travel everywhere?
  • No matter where (whether in Munich, Bavaria, Germany, Austria, Switzerland or in Europe or worldwide ) and for what occasion you are celebrating (whether wedding, birthday party, Christmas party, summer festival, fashion show, trade fair party, company event or theme party), you can book me as a DJ - regardless of location.
What kind of music do you play?
  • I always tailor my musical program to my guests and the specifics of each event. I also keep my DJ set constantly updated, investing approximately 10 hours per week in finding new and playable music and developing my own signature sound as a DJ. Furthermore, I create an annual DJ playlist of the most played tracks from the previous year. This gives my clients a good idea of what I typically play. However, please note: I maintain a " Schlager-free zone " (no songs by H. Fischer, PUR, A. Berg, M. Wendler, and others). As a native Austrian, Austro Pop is NOT German Schlager to me!
Do you know any other DJs?
  • No problem, since I have a very long DJ history and am well-connected with my fellow DJs. I also try to listen to new DJs perform live to see how they work, what kind of equipment they use, etc. As I am a full-time DJ myself, I usually only recommend other professional DJs. Sometimes, however, all the full-time pro DJs are already booked. In these cases, I have a small but select pool of DJs I can draw on, who are musically and personally similar to me. There are no "second-timers" or "hobby" DJs among them. I live and breathe this job, and I only recommend like-minded individuals. No matter the music genre, I have the right DJ for every taste, and if desired, they can even bring their own lighting and sound equipment.
What happens if YOU, as the DJ, are unable to perform, and could YOU possibly provide a replacement?
  • As DJ Robert James Perkins, I've been in the business for over 25 years and, for the past 14 years, I've been recommending professional DJ colleagues to my clients through 089DJ Booking Munich, should I already be booked. In the unlikely event that I become ill before a DJ gig, I will, of course, arrange for a suitable replacement. I can draw on a small, hand-picked pool of DJ colleagues who are available on that date and share a similar musical and personal style. In this case, I will forward all previously agreed-upon arrangements directly to the replacement, including the technical requirements. All other matters on the day of the event (such as on-site music requests, changes to the schedule, payment, etc.) will be handled directly between the client and the replacement DJ.
Do you play at every location?
  • Through my many years as a DJ, I've traveled extensively and could almost write a book about venues and their practices, because sometimes things aren't as advertised. Feel free to check out my REFERENCES to see all the venues I've played in over the years, and you can always ask me if there are any special considerations for a particular venue. However, there are also venues where I no longer DJ, especially those with strict noise restrictions that weren't communicated to the client.
Is it possible to hear you play in public sometime?
  • Since I work full-time as a DJ, I also play in various clubs and at parties in different locations. Anyone who wants to can come and be my " sound spy " for their own event. For this purpose, I've set up an EVENTS PAGE for my fans and clients, where you can easily see where I'm currently playing.
Do you also make your own music and/or DJ mixes that people might want to listen to?
  • Yes, there are. Just check out my " DISCOGRAPHY " page. When time allows, I create my own songs and remixes of tracks by friends, bands, and DJs (including release on all platforms ), and of course, I also produce DJ mixes. I try to release my DJ mixes, or mixtapes , regularly, but unfortunately, I don't always manage it. These mixes cover a variety of genres. If you like the mixes, I'm always happy when you share them on various social media channels. I've also recently started creating playlists on Spotify for clients, or just for fun...
What kind of music does the DJ actually listen to himself?
  • Basically, anything that's good. Personally, I enjoy listening to electronic music (house, deep house, etc.), as well as indie and alternative. I also like to listen to jazz, soundtracks, and classical music from time to time. But what I NEVER listen to, and also don't play as a DJ, is all that German schlager garbage, après-ski music, and German-language Mallorca rubbish, because after a certain age you simply know what you want and what you don't...
Are you allergic to anything?
  • No and yes - I'm intolerant of Schlager music... 😉 Joking aside, a clear no (if the allergy question doesn't refer to the music itself )...
