Sennheiser IE 100 PRO

Headphones are one of the essential tools for a DJ to do a good job. Since I was on the road a lot again in 2022, it's crucial for me to play with good headphones. Firstly, because if the sound quality isn't right, after three or four gigs a week my hearing deteriorates, and I also notice certain frequencies becoming less distinct. Secondly, because I prefer headphones that completely enclose my ears to block out ambient noise.

Since unfortunately only headphones with small ear cups are currently available on the market, making them unsuitable for my frequent weekly use, I ventured an experiment that I haven't regretted to this day...

Sennheiser IE 100 PRO

Since my last headphones were from Sennheiser and the last Technics model didn't impress me at all, I've now ventured into the realm of in-ear monitoring. I used to think that DJing and in-ear monitoring... well, maybe not. I tested it about 12 years ago, but back then the technology wasn't advanced enough to allow for proper and hearing-friendly DJing. Now, in 2022, I did some research and came across a kind of entry-level model that has consistently good reviews and is also suitable for DJ or studio use.

The Sennheiser IE 100 Pro are truly amazing in terms of sound. Very clear, very precise even in the higher and lower frequencies, and it's almost impossible to distort these little earbuds. The volume is more than sufficient, and they also provide excellent isolation from external noise. As a regular headphone user, I had to adjust at first, but you get used to them. The cable could be a bit longer, but you can always extend it, and for those who prefer, these in-ears are also available wirelessly. Wireless isn't for me, though, because I don't want to have to change batteries mid-gig, and since practically everything is wireless these days, I still prefer the classic connection to the mixing console.

Sennheiser has many in-ear monitors in its portfolio, and you can really spend a fortune on them. I'll upgrade my IE 100 Pro at some point, but currently I'm completely satisfied with them...
