Some things already feel like they used to, only with masks and the rules that need to be followed. Because Corona isn't over yet, and the Delta variant of the virus is currently spreading here in Germany, while the next variant from South America is already knocking at the door...
Last Saturday was another preliminary meeting with the DJ, and it was once again very nice to meet with his clients for a beer in the beer garden and discuss the party, the event, the wedding...
At the place we were, you didn't even have to check in for contact tracing (WHATEVER), and the ugly disinfectant bottles weren't there either (WHATEVER), and if you went to the toilet wearing a mask, you got some strange looks. Okay, irony mode off now, and you can either live with the behavior of the local restaurant owners or just keep your fingers crossed for the Italian proprietors, who apparently have no relatives in Italy, that they don't have to rename their place Bergamo someday...
Fortunately, I wasn't the only one to express concerns, especially since part of my appointment, as a nurse, had a lot of experience with COVID-19, and not all of it positive. But just like my client, I've grown tired of pointing out what's missing, and in COVID-denier circles, you're immediately labeled "sheeple" and it's all supposedly not so bad, since arguments are just fake news anyway. Therefore, I think it's great that my clients, who also had to postpone their weddings due to COVID and will also forgo their honeymoons, feel the same way I do. Because this pandemic isn't over yet, even though we have an increasing number of vaccinated people and summer allows for many things. But what will happen after the summer holidays...? What will happen in the fall...? Those who are now carelessly partying, going on vacation, and returning to work without even the most basic hygiene and social distancing rules don't seem to be thinking about that...
I'm also getting fed up with all of this, BUT things will definitely change after the election, because whoever is in charge will want to make a name for themselves and will come up with new measures. Depending on the infection rates and vaccination rates, this will hit some sectors hard again, and I'm pretty sure that will include the restaurant and event industries, and of course the schools.
Because many people will already be vaccinated, there won't be a complete lockdown anymore, but certain sectors that have been identified as pandemic drivers, rightly or wrongly, will have to live with stricter measures and increased controls...
Therefore, I don't understand it, and anyone with half a brain should approach leisure activities sensibly, especially now and this summer, and even when celebrating and partying, always keep in mind the months we spent binge-watching Netflix at home. Because that could happen again, but not because there's another complete lockdown, but because leisure activities, restaurants, and perhaps even schools might have to close again.
We'll see if it comes to that; I hope not, but as they say, the devil is in the details, and that would throw many who are currently generating revenue back to zero, simply because the current carefree attitude is too tempting...
