I debated for a long time whether I should write about this, but since I'm a fan of clarity and always like to quickly provide my clients with important information (by whatever means necessary) so that they have planning security in these turbulent times, I'm writing about it now after all...
Fully vaccinated DJ...
For two weeks now, I've been considered fully vaccinated, and I'm feeling great. I've noticed that I'm much more relaxed about things these days. Since I work as a service provider in the event industry and have a lot of contact with clients, it's obviously great that being vaccinated means I can skip the testing. The fact that I have to travel abroad for a few DJ gigs this summer also makes things easier for me. It saves me from quarantine and testing—okay, the former isn't mandatory in some regions right now, but who knows what will happen in the fall.
Furthermore, several venues, bridal couples, and event organizers have already contacted me to ask if I've been vaccinated, and the feedback has been unanimously positive. Firstly, it greatly simplifies planning for everyone involved, whether it's entry requirements, access to the venue, etc., and secondly, it also provides a certain level of security.
Especially for us artists, it's crucial right now to have full vaccination protection, since we'll be coming into contact with countless people again in a week, saving us the hassle of testing before every event. And even with testing, as we know after more than a year of the pandemic, there's a risk that the test wasn't accurate.
Something we artists also mustn't forget is the fact that if you get infected at a party, you can pretty much throw away your currently rather sparse bookings for 14 days...
One more thing: I didn't get vaccinated primarily to be able to go back to work. I got vaccinated to help control the pandemic and because I don't want to be an uncontrollable danger if a test result is inaccurate between two parties. The reason I'm writing this is simply that some service providers I know are only getting vaccinated because they want to work again, not because they understand that this is a global pandemic that is restricting almost all of us (almost all of us – excluding, of course, the influencers, conspiracy theorists, and vaccine deniers) in our normal lives. A superficial "we're all in this together" and "one love for all" are easily shouted from the rooftops, but in my opinion, too few people are acting on them and aren't giving enough thought to what THEY themselves can do to finally make the pandemic scare subside...
Therefore, anyone planning a celebration this summer (and beyond) should consider bringing on board as many vaccinated service providers as possible for their event. Only then can we get the situation under control and enjoy even more freedom soon...
So here's to a wonderful summer with the old new freedom...
PS: I'm sorry for everyone who would like to get vaccinated so they can go back to work and haven't yet received an offer. We all know why things are the way they are, but perhaps the federal government should introduce a mechanism (whatever it may look like) so that people aren't forced to get vaccinated just because of their upcoming vacation (the home office workers, etc.) in the next two months, but rather that priority is given to those who are on the verge of financial ruin because they can't or aren't allowed to work without being vaccinated. Vacationers can still travel without any problems with tests (that's been the case throughout the entire pandemic), but try getting tested four times in one week because, depending on the test, it can't be older than 24 or 72 hours. Your sinuses will love that... 😉
